If you are traveling by car from Versilia to Riomaggiore, start by taking the A12 motorway. Head north on the SS1 from Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi towards La Spezia. Merge onto the A12 motorway (Autostrada A12) towards Livorno/La Spezia. Follow the A12 for about 45 kilometers. Take exit 10 for La Spezia and merge onto SS1. Follow the signs for Riomaggiore, which is approximately 12 kilometers from the exit. Once you arrive in Riomaggiore, park in one of the designated parking areas (note that parking may incur a fee, approximately 2-3 euros per hour).

Train
For those using public transportation, you can take a train from Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi to Riomaggiore. Start at Viareggio train station or Forte dei Marmi station and take a train towards La Spezia Centrale. Trains run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. Once you arrive at La Spezia Centrale, switch trains to the Cinque Terre regional line and take the train towards Monterosso. Riomaggiore is the first stop on this line. The total travel time is about 1.5 hours, and tickets cost approximately 5-10 euros, depending on your starting point.

If you're looking for a bus option, you can take a bus from Versilia to La Spezia. Check the local bus schedules for routes from Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi to La Spezia. From La Spezia, you'll need to switch to the Cinque Terre bus service that connects to Riomaggiore. The bus journey may take longer than the train, and it may also cost around 3-5 euros. Be mindful of the bus schedules, as they may not run as frequently as trains.
