Daimaru Besso: A Historic Ryokan Experience
Experience traditional Japanese hospitality at Daimaru Besso, a historic onsen ryokan in Fukuoka.
Daimaru Besso, established in 1865, offers a serene escape into traditional Japanese hospitality. This ryokan, or Japanese inn, is located in Chikushino, Fukuoka, just a short distance from the bustling city of Fukuoka. The inn is known for its beautiful Japanese gardens, soothing hot spring baths, and meticulously prepared cuisine. The history of the Futsukaichi Onsen, the hot spring that feeds Daimaru Besso's baths, dates back over 1300 years. The ryokan itself has been visited by emperors and dignitaries, solidifying its place as a treasured destination. Guests can relax in large communal indoor hot springs or reserve private family baths. The water is known for its therapeutic properties, said to ease chronic joint and nerve pain. Daimaru Besso features three distinct buildings: Taishotei, Heiantei, and Showatei, each offering unique views of the surrounding Japanese nature. The Taishotei building overlooks the Japanese garden. While rooms have private bathrooms, the hot spring water is only available in the communal bathing areas. Day packages are available for those who wish to experience the onsen and cuisine without an overnight stay.
