Getting there

Car

If you're traveling by car from central Chikuzen, head south on Route 500 toward Fukuoka City. After approximately 20 kilometers, merge onto Route 3. Continue for about 15 kilometers until you reach Hakata Ward. Take the exit toward Gokushomachi. Once you exit, follow the signs to 2-4 Gokushomachi, where the Giant Wood Buddha is located. Parking is available nearby, but may incur a fee.

Public Transportation (Train and Walk)

From Chikuzen Station, take the JR Kagoshima Line toward Hakata Station. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Hakata Station, exit the station and transfer to the Fukuoka City Subway. Board the Kūkō Line and travel to Gion Station. From Gion Station, it is about a 15-minute walk to 2-4 Gokushomachi, following the signs leading to the Giant Wood Buddha. Be prepared for some pedestrian traffic as you navigate through the city.
