Getting There

From Chikuzen, head south on Route 385 towards the city of Kumamoto. Continue on Route 385 for about 1 hour until you reach the intersection with Route 218. Take a left onto Route 218, and follow the signs towards Takachiho. After approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at Takachiho Gorge. From Chikuzen, take a local train to Kurume Station (approximately 30 minutes). At Kurume Station, transfer to the Nishi-Nippon Railroad (Nishitetsu) and take a train to Takachiho Station (approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes).
