Getting There

    From Chikuzen, head south on Route 3 towards Kumamoto. After approximately 35 km, take the exit onto Route 11 towards Kurume. Continue on Route 11 for about 40 km, then merge onto Route 2 towards Shodoshima. Follow the signs for Kankakei Ropeway. The drive will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes in total. There are no tolls on this route.

  • Train and Bus

    From Chikuzen Station, take the JR Kagoshima Main Line towards Hakata and get off at Takanabe Station (approximately 30 minutes). At Takanabe Station, transfer to the bus heading to Shodoshima. The bus ride will take about 1 hour. Get off at the Kankakei Ropeway stop. The total travel time will be approximately 2 hours, and the train and bus fare will be around ¥1,500.

  • Taxi
