Car
If you are driving from Hiroshima City, take the Sanyo Expressway (E2) towards Okayama. Exit at the Hatsukaichi IC and follow signs for Miyajima. The drive should take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal (Miyajima Ferry Terminal), park your car in the designated parking area (cost is approximately ¥500 for a day). After parking, purchase a ferry ticket to Miyajima Island, which costs about ¥1800 round trip. The ferry ride takes about 10 minutes.
Public Transportation
From Hiroshima Station, take the JR Sanyo Line to Miyajimaguchi Station, which takes about 30 minutes. At Miyajimaguchi Station, follow the signs to the Miyajima Ferry Terminal. Purchase a round trip ferry ticket to Miyajima Island for approximately ¥1800. The ferry ride is about 10 minutes long, and once you arrive at Miyajima, walk towards Itsukushima Jinja, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the ferry terminal.
Combination (Car and Public Transport)
If you are coming from another area in Chugoku by car, head towards Hiroshima City and follow the previous car guidance to reach the Miyajima Ferry Terminal. Alternatively, you can park at the ferry terminal and use public transportation from there. If you decide to use public transport from another location, ensure to reach Hiroshima Station first, then follow the public transportation guidance outlined above.
