Public Transport
From Tsuruoka Station, take the Shonai Kotsu bus bound for Haguro-sancho. The bus ride takes approximately 50 minutes, and the final stop is near the Dewa Sanzan Historical Museum. From the bus stop, it is a 5-minute walk to the museum. The bus fare is around ¥820. Alternatively, to experience the traditional pilgrimage route, take the bus to Haguro Zuishinmon bus stop and walk for about an hour up the stone steps.
Taxi
From Tsuruoka Station, a taxi ride to the Dewa Sanzan Historical Museum takes approximately 25 minutes. Haguro Taxi (0235-62-4600) and Shoko Hire (0235-22-0055) are available in the area. The estimated fare is between ¥6,500 and ¥8,000.
Car
From the Tsuruoka Interchange on the Yamagata Expressway, follow the Tsuruoka/Haguro-Gassan Plateau Line for approximately 10 km to Mt. Haguro. Parking is available near the Dewa Sanzan Historical Museum. There is parking available at the top of Mt. Haguro. Tolls may apply on certain roads. Check for road closures during winter.
