Getting There

  • Car

    If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to the Odawara-Atsugi Road (Route 129). From Hakone, head towards Odawara and merge onto Route 129. Follow the signs for Atsugi, and after approximately 30 minutes, you will reach Nanasawa, Atsugi. Look for signs directing you to Mount Oyama. There is a parking area available near the base of the mountain, but please check for any parking fees that may apply.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Mount Oyama using public transportation, begin at Hakone Yumoto Station. Take the Hakone Tozan Line to Odawara Station. From Odawara, transfer to the Odakyu Line and take a train to Atsugi Station. Once at Atsugi Station, exit the station and look for the bus terminal. Board the Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu Bus bound for Nanasawa Onsen. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the Nanasawa Onsen stop. From there, it is a short walk to the trailhead for Mount Oyama. Note that bus fares are usually around 500-700 yen.

  • Combination of Public Transport and Hiking

    For a more adventurous route, take the same initial steps as above to reach Atsugi Station. Once there, instead of taking the bus, you can hike to Mount Oyama. This hike will take you through beautiful rural areas and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you have sufficient water and snacks for the hike. The trail is well-marked, and the views are rewarding, but do check the weather conditions before you set out.
