Car
From central Hitachi, take Route 6 (also known as the Joban Expressway) heading northeast. Continue on Route 6 for approximately 30 kilometers until you see signs for Takahagi. Take the exit for Takahagi and follow the signs towards Nakadogawa. Once you reach Nakadogawa, look for Route 1954 and follow it to Hananuki Gorge. There is parking available near the entrance of the gorge, but be mindful of any parking fees that may apply.
Public Transportation
Begin your journey at Hitachi Station. Take the JR Joban Line towards Takahagi Station, which is about a 20-minute ride. Once you arrive at Takahagi Station, exit the station and catch a local bus heading to Nakadogawa. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as the frequency may vary. After getting off the bus, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to Hananuki Gorge, which is a short walk away.
