Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from central Hitachi, take Route 6 (Kitaibaraki Bypass) heading south. Continue on Route 6 for approximately 60 kilometers until you reach the Hitachi interchange. Merge onto the Joban Expressway and drive for about 70 kilometers. Take the exit towards Tokyo, and follow signs for Central Tokyo. Once in the city, look for signs for Chuo City. Hobai-tei is located at 1-1 Hamarikyuteien, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0046. There is limited parking available near the garden, so be prepared to find a spot nearby.

  • Train

    To reach Hobai-tei using public transportation, first make your way to Hitachi Station. From Hitachi Station, take the JR Joban Line towards Ueno. The journey will take approximately 90 minutes. Get off at Hamamatsucho Station. From Hamamatsucho Station, it is a 15-minute walk to Hobai-tei. Head east on Route 15, then turn left onto Hamarikyuteien Street, and continue until you reach the entrance of the garden at 1-1 Hamarikyuteien, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0046.

  • Bus

    If you prefer to travel by bus, you can take a highway bus from Hitachi to Tokyo Station. Buses depart regularly from Hitachi Bus Terminal. The ride will take about 90 minutes. Once you arrive at Tokyo Station, transfer to the Yamanote Line and head towards Hamamatsucho Station. After arriving at Hamamatsucho, it’s a 15-minute walk to Hobai-tei. Follow Route 15 east, then turn left onto Hamarikyuteien Street, continuing straight to the garden entrance.
