Car
If you are driving, start from Sapporo. Head north on the Hokkaido Expressway (道央自動車道), and continue for about 100 km. Take the exit towards Kamikawa (上川) and follow signs for Route 273. Continue on Route 273 until you reach Higashikawa. Once you enter the town, follow the signs for Asahidake (旭岳) which will lead you to the Asahidake Ropeway. The total drive should take approximately 2 hours, depending on traffic.
Public Transportation
To get to the Asahidake Ropeway using public transportation, start at Sapporo Station. Take the JR Hakodate Line to Kamikawa Station. This journey takes about 2 hours. From Kamikawa Station, you can take a local bus (Asahidake Line) that goes directly to the Asahidake Ropeway. The bus ride from Kamikawa Station to the ropeway takes approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as there may be limited services.
