Car
If you are driving, head towards Hakodate city. From Sapporo, take the Hokkaido Expressway and follow signs for Hakodate. Exit at the Hakodate IC and continue on Route 5. Follow the signs to Goryōkaku. Parking is available near Goryōkaku Tower, and it typically costs around 500 yen for a few hours.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take the train from Sapporo to Hakodate Station, which takes about 3.5 hours. Once at Hakodate Station, transfer to the 'Goryōkaku' tram line (Tram No. 2) and ride it to the Goryōkaku Koen Mae stop. The tram ride costs 210 yen. From the tram stop, it's a short 5-minute walk to Goryōkaku Tower.
Taxi
For convenience, you can take a taxi from Hakodate Station directly to Goryōkaku Tower. The taxi fare is approximately 1,500 yen and takes around 15 minutes depending on traffic.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Hakodate. You can ride from the city center to Goryōkaku, which is about a 30-minute ride. This option allows you to enjoy the scenery along the way. Rental prices vary but expect around 1,000 yen for a day.
