Getting There

  • Bus

    From Takachiho Bus Center, the gorge is about a 30-40 minute walk. Alternatively, take a local bus or taxi. Buses are infrequent, so check the timetable. A taxi will cost approximately ¥1,000-¥1,500.

  • Walking

    From the town center, follow the signs to Takachiho Gorge. The walk is approximately 30-40 minutes. The path is well-maintained but can be steep in some sections. Enjoy the scenic views along the way.

  • Car

    From Nobeoka IC on the Kyushu Expressway, it's about a 1.5-hour drive to Takachiho Gorge via National Route 218. Several parking lots are available near the gorge, including Oshioi Parking (¥500), Araragi Parking (¥300), and Ohashi Parking (free). During peak season, shuttle buses operate between the parking lots and the gorge. Parking at car park No. 1 costs 500 Yen, car park No. 2 costs 300 Yen.
