Car
If you are driving, start from the center of Izumo city. Head northeast on Route 9 (National Route 9) towards Matsue. After about 5 km, take the exit for Taisha (Izumo Taisha) and follow the signs leading you to the shrine. Continue on Taishacho road for approximately 2 km until you reach Izumo Taisha, which will be on your left. There is parking available nearby.
Public Transportation
To get to Izumo Taisha using public transportation, start at Izumo Station. Take the Izumo City Bus (Line 1) towards Taisha. The bus ride takes about 20 minutes. Get off at the 'Izumo Taisha' bus stop, which is a short walk from the shrine entrance. Be sure to check the bus schedule since frequencies may vary, especially on weekends.
Walking
If you are staying close to Izumo Taisha, you can walk there from downtown. Head east on Taishacho street, then continue straight until you reach the entrance of the shrine. The walk will take approximately 30 minutes and is about 2.5 km. Follow the signs as you approach the shrine, and enjoy the scenic views along the way.
