Car
If you are driving from central Izumo, head west on Route 9 (国道9号) towards Matsue. After approximately 10 kilometers, take the exit towards Takicho Taki (高知滝) and follow the signs for Kirara Beach. The journey should take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Parking is available at Kirara Beach, but be aware that there may be a small fee (around 500 yen) for parking during peak season.
Public Transportation
To reach Kirara Beach via public transportation, start at Izumo Station (出雲市駅). Take a bus bound for 'Kirara Beach' (きららビーチ) from the bus terminal located just outside the station. The bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes and costs around 600 yen. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be less frequent on weekends and holidays.
Combination of Train and Bus
For those who prefer a train ride, you can take the JR Sanin Line from Izumo Station to Matsue Station. From Matsue Station, transfer to the local bus heading to Kirara Beach. This option takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes in total, and the costs will include your train fare (around 600 yen) plus the bus fare (around 600 yen). Be sure to check train and bus schedules to align your connections.
