Car
From Kai, take Route 20 (Chuo Highway) heading south towards Kofu. Continue on Route 20 for about 20 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 1. Merge onto Route 1 and follow the signs for Kyoto. After approximately 90 kilometers, take the exit toward Kyoto and continue on the local roads following signs for Arashiyama. The Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is located at Sagaogurayama Tabuchiyamacho, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto. There is parking available nearby, but please check for any parking fees that may apply.
Public Transportation
From Kai, take the JR Chuo Line train from Kai City Station to Kofu Station. From Kofu Station, transfer to the JR Limited Express train to Kyoto Station. Once at Kyoto Station, take the JR Sanin Line to Saga Arashiyama Station. After arriving at Saga Arashiyama Station, it's a short 10-15 minute walk to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. Ensure to check the train schedules for any changes, and be aware that train fares will apply for each leg of the journey.
