By Car
If you are driving from Tokyo, take the Tohoku Expressway. Exit at Utsunomiya IC and follow Route 4 towards Utsunomiya City. After approximately 10 minutes, turn left onto Route 119 and then make a right at the first intersection onto Mutsumicho. The Tochigi Prefectural Museum will be on your left at 2-2 Mutsumicho, Utsunomiya, Tochigi 320-0865. Parking is available on site, usually for a fee of around 500 yen.
By Train
From Tokyo Station, take the Tohoku Shinkansen (bullet train) towards Utsunomiya. The journey takes about 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Utsunomiya Station, take the East Exit and board bus number 3, which goes directly to the Tochigi Prefectural Museum. The bus ride takes approximately 15 minutes. A one-way bus fare is around 210 yen.
By Bus
From Narita Airport, take the Airport Limousine Bus to Utsunomiya Station. This service takes about 2 hours and costs approximately 4,000 yen. Upon arrival at Utsunomiya Station, take bus number 3 from the East Exit to the Tochigi Prefectural Museum, which takes about 15 minutes and costs 210 yen for a one-way fare.
By Local Transit
If you are already in Utsunomiya, you can reach the Tochigi Prefectural Museum by taking the city bus. Board the bus at the nearest bus stop to your location, and look for routes heading toward Mutsumicho. The fare should be around 210 yen. Ensure to tell the driver your destination or check the route map displayed on the bus.
