Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, take the Tohoku Expressway from Tokyo. Exit at the Iwatsuki IC and follow the signs towards Iwatsuki City. Continue on Route 16, then turn onto Route 125. After about 10 minutes, you will reach Jionji Temple at 139 Jionji, Iwatsuki Ward, Saitama. Parking is available near the temple, but be mindful of any parking fees that may apply.

  • Train

    If traveling by train, take the JR Ueno-Tokyo Line to Ueno Station. From there, transfer to the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line and head towards Omiya Station. At Omiya, switch to the JR Takasaki Line and get off at Iwatsuki Station. From Iwatsuki Station, take Bus No. 1 or No. 2 towards Jionji, which will take approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the Jionji bus stop, and the temple will be a short walk from there.

    From Iwatsuki Station, you can also take a local bus. Buses No. 1 and No. 2 service the route to Jionji Temple. The bus fare is approximately 220 yen. The journey takes around 15 minutes. Once you reach the Jionji bus stop, follow the signs to the temple, which is a 5-minute walk away.
