    Discover more about Tokyo Skytree

Rising above Tokyo's skyline, the Tokyo Skytree is a must-see landmark offering breathtaking views and a multifaceted entertainment experience. Completed in February 2012 and opened to the public in May of the same year, this towering structure stands 634 meters (2,080 feet) tall, making it the tallest structure in Japan and one of the tallest in the world. The Skytree primarily serves as a broadcasting tower, replacing the Tokyo Tower to provide complete digital terrestrial television broadcasting coverage to the Kanto region. However, it has become much more than just a functional structure. Its design blends modern engineering with traditional Japanese aesthetics, drawing inspiration from the curvature of a samurai sword and the shape of traditional pagodas. The height of 634 meters was deliberately chosen because the pronunciation of these numbers in old Japanese sounds like "Musashi," referring to the historical Musashi Province where the tower stands.Visitors can ascend to the Tembo Deck at 350 meters for 360-degree panoramic views of Tokyo and beyond. On clear days, it's even possible to see Mount Fuji. For an even higher perspective, the Tembo Galleria reaches 450 meters and features a sloped skywalk, creating the sensation of walking on air. The base of the Skytree, known as Tokyo Skytree Town, offers a variety of attractions, including the Solamachi shopping complex with over 300 shops and restaurants, the Sumida Aquarium, and the Planetarium Tenku. At night, the Skytree is illuminated in different styles, adding to the city's vibrant atmosphere. The tower's design incorporates advanced earthquake-resistant features, ensuring its stability in Japan's seismically active environment.
