Tokyo Night & Light: A Dazzling Display on the Metropolitan Government Building

Since February 2024, Tokyo Night & Light has transformed the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building into a canvas for stunning projection mapping. Recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest permanent architectural projection-mapped display, the show covers an impressive 13,905 square meters. The event features a rotation of artistic projections created by both domestic and international artists. The themes vary from Tokyo's rich history and culture to more contemporary and fantastical subjects. Some popular projections include 'Godzilla: Attack on Tokyo!', 'Pac-Man Eats Tokyo', and visuals synchronized to music by the Japanese pop duo YOASOBI. The colorful projections are shown at half-hour intervals and are offered free of charge.The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is promoting efforts to add value to existing landmarks by combining them with Japanese projection mapping technology. By creating new, exciting attractions for visitors, Tokyo's nights are becoming livelier and more colorful than ever. The projection mapping shows currently run every night, with showtimes varying slightly depending on the time of year.
