Getting There

  • Car

    From Kyoto city center, take the Keihan Main Line towards Uji. Drive southeast on the Route 1 highway for about 15 kilometers. Once you reach Uji, follow signs for Sanbanwari. Turn onto Sanbanwari street, and continue until you reach Sanbanwari-34-3. Hōzen-in Temple will be on your left. Parking is available nearby.

  • Train

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Nara Line towards Nara. Get off at Uji Station. From the station, exit towards the north and walk 10 minutes to Hōzen-in Temple. You will head east along the main road, then turn left onto Sanbanwari street, where the temple is located at Sanbanwari-34-3.

  • Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take the Kyoto City Bus #205 towards Uji. Get off at the Gokasho bus stop. From there, walk about 5 minutes east along Sanbanwari street. Hōzen-in Temple will be located at Sanbanwari-34-3 on your right.
