    Public Transport

    From Uraga Station, take a Keikyu bus to the 'Tomyodo-iriguchi' bus stop. From there, it's a short 5-minute walk to the lighthouse. Bus fares typically range from ¥170-¥300. A Yokosuka Enjoy Ticket offers unlimited rides between Shioiri and Uraga Stations on the Keikyu Line, as well as unlimited Keikyu bus rides within a designated area. Prices for the Yokosuka Enjoy Ticket start at ¥3,650.

    If driving, follow Route 134 towards Yokosuka and look for signs directing you to the Tōmyō-dō Lighthouse. A parking area is available near the lighthouse. Parking costs around ¥460 for up to four hours.

    Tōmyō-dō Lighthouse, also known as Uraga Tōmyō-dō, is a historical landmark in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The original lighthouse was built in 1648 by the Edo Shogunate to ensure the safety of ships navigating Tokyo Bay. It served as a vital maritime navigation structure for 220 years until it was deactivated in 1872. The current structure is a 1989 reconstruction, built upon the original stone foundation.The lighthouse features a traditional Japanese architectural design. It's a two-story tall, tile-roofed structure. The light, fueled by rapeseed and fish oil, was said to shine 4 nautical miles (7.4 km) across the water.Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding landscape. The surrounding area offers scenic walking paths and nearby beaches. Glass Beach is located nearby, where visitors can find small pieces of sea glass during low tide.
