Getting There

Car
From Koshi, head northwest on Route 3. Follow the signs for Route 146 toward Nakanojo. Continue on Route 146 for approximately 30 km until you reach the town of Nakanojo. Look for signs directing you to the Highest Point of Japan’s National Routes, located at Iriyama. As you arrive in Iriyama, follow signs to the observation deck. Parking is available nearby, but be aware that there may be a small parking fee of around 500 yen.

Take a train from Koshi Station to Nakanojo Station. Depending on the schedule, this journey may take around 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Nakanojo Station, exit the station and find the bus stop for routes heading to Iriyama. Board the bus heading towards Iriyama; the ride will take about 30 minutes. The bus fare is approximately 700 yen. After arriving in Iriyama, walk towards the signs for the Highest Point of Japan’s National Routes, which is a short 10-minute walk from the bus stop.
