Car
If you are driving, start from the Kumano Kodo trail area. Use the route via National Route 42. Head towards Koyasan, which is approximately 1.5 hours away from Kumano Kodo. Once in Koyasan, follow the signs to Kongobu-ji, located at 550 Koyasan, Koya, Ito District, Wakayama 648-0294. There is parking available near the temple, but be aware that parking fees may apply.

Public Transportation
To reach Kongobu-ji Okuno-in via public transportation, take a train from your nearest station to Nankai Koya Line. If you are starting in Kumano area, you will need to take a bus to Shingu Station, and then catch the Nankai train to Gokurakubashi Station. From Gokurakubashi, transfer to the Koyasan Cable Car to reach Koyasan. Once you arrive at Koyasan Station, it is a short 15-minute walk to Kongobu-ji. Be prepared for some steep paths during the walk. Note that train and cable car fares will apply, typically around 1,500-2,000 yen for the entire journey.
