From the center of Gion, start at the intersection of Shijo Avenue and Hanamikoji Street. Head east on Hanamikoji Street, which is lined with traditional wooden machiya houses and tea shops. Continue walking straight until you reach Yasaka Shrine, which will be on your left. The South Tower Gate is located right at the entrance of Yasaka Shrine, at 509 Gionmachi Minamigawa, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto.
