Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are near Kyoto Station, start by heading towards the Karasuma Line subway station inside the station. Take the Karasuma Line towards Kokusai Kaikan and get off at Shijo Station (about 5 minutes). Exit the station at Exit 1. Once outside, walk straight ahead to Shijo-dori Street, and take a left. Continue walking until you reach the Kamo River. Cross the bridge to your right, and then take a left at the riverside path, walking along the river for about 10 minutes. Pontocho Park will be on your left, just before you reach the area known as Pontocho Alley.

  • Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take bus number 100 or 206 from the bus terminal outside the station. Get off at the 'Shijo Kawaramachi' stop (approximately 15-20 minutes). Once you get off, walk towards the river and cross the street. Head down the narrow alley called Pontocho, which runs parallel to the Kamo River. Pontocho Park is located at the north end of this alley.

  • Taxi

    If you prefer to take a taxi, simply tell the driver 'Pontocho Park' or show them the address: 先斗町通, 145, Umenokicho, Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, 604-8012.
