By Car
If you are traveling by car, you will want to navigate to Takachiho Gorge located at Mukoyama, Takachiho, Nishiusuki District, Miyazaki 882-1103. From Fukuoka, take the Kyushu Expressway towards Kumamoto. Exit at the Kumamoto Interchange and take Route 57 towards Takachiho. Follow the signs for Takachiho and once you arrive in Takachiho town, look for signs leading to the gorge. There is ample parking available near the gorge. Note that parking may incur a fee, typically around ¥500.

To reach Takachiho Gorge by public transportation, your best option is to take a bus from Kumamoto or Fukuoka. From Kumamoto, take the Nishi Kyushu Bus to Takachiho, which takes about 2.5 hours.
