Train
From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line towards Uji. The journey takes about 40 minutes. You will need to transfer at Kyoto Station to the JR Nara Line, then take a train to Uji Station. Once you arrive at Uji Station, exit the station and head towards the main road (Uji River). Turn left and walk along the river for about 15 minutes. You will see signs directing you to Byodoin Temple.
Bus
From Nara, take the Nara Kotsu bus from Nara Station bound for Uji (Line 75 or 76). The bus ride will take approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Uji, get off at the Byodoin-mae bus stop. The temple is a short 5-minute walk from the bus stop. Follow the signs towards Byodoin Temple.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Nara and cycle to Uji. The ride is about 12 km and will take approximately 1 hour. Head southeast from Nara towards the Uji River, following the designated bike paths along the river. Once you reach Uji, follow the road signs to Byodoin Temple.
