Bus
If you're starting from Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Kyoto Station. From Kyoto Station, transfer to the City Bus 101 or 205. Get off at the Kitano Tenmangu-mae bus stop. The shrine is a short 5-minute walk from the bus stop. Head northeast on Kitanocho Street until you reach the shrine entrance.
Train
From Nara Station, board the Kintetsu Nara Line and travel to Kyoto Station. Once at Kyoto Station, exit the station and head to the nearby bus terminal. Take bus number 101 or 205 and disembark at Kitano Tenmangu-mae bus stop. From there, it's a 5-minute walk to the shrine. Just follow the signs to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
Walking
If you are already in the vicinity of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, you can walk to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. Head north from the palace towards the Kamigyo Ward area. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions to Bakurocho. The shrine is located along Bakurocho Street, and you will reach the entrance in about 15-20 minutes on foot.
Taxi
If you prefer a more comfortable ride, you can take a taxi from Nara to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. Just tell the driver 'Kitano Tenmangu' or show them the address: Bakurocho, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes, depending on traffic.
