Getting There

  • Public Transport

    If you're starting from Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Line subway (green line) towards Kokusai Kaikan. Get off at Kitaoji Station, which is a 15-minute ride. At Kitaoji Station, take exit 1 and head north on Takano Road (also called Kitaoji-dori) for about 15 minutes. You will pass by some shops and local eateries. After about 1.2 kilometers, you will reach Daitoku-ji Temple area. Follow the signs to Daitoku-ji Zuiho-in, which is located at 81 Murasakino Daitokujicho.

  • Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take the bus number 101 or 205. Get off at the Daitoku-ji Mae bus stop. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you disembark, walk straight for about 200 meters along the road until you see the entrance to Daitoku-ji Temple on your left. Follow the path to reach Zuiho-in, which is a sub-temple of Daitoku-ji.

    If you're staying near the downtown area of Kyoto, you can enjoy a scenic walk to Daitoku-ji Zuiho-in. Start at the Kyoto Imperial Palace and walk north towards the Kamogawa River.
