Getting There

Bus
If you are starting from Nara Park, walk to the Nara Kotsu Bus Terminal. From there, take the bus to Kyoto Station. This bus ride will take approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Kyoto Station, exit the bus terminal and head to the subway station located underneath the station. Take the Karasuma Line subway towards Kokusaikaikan and get off at the Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk to Shirakawa Canal. Head east on Sanjo Street, then turn left onto Shijo Street. Continue straight until you reach the canal.

Train and Walk
From Nara, make your way to Nara Station. Take the Kintetsu Nara Line train towards Kyoto. This journey takes about 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Kintetsu Kyoto Station, exit the station and walk towards the Kyoto Subway Station. Take the Karasuma Line subway towards Kokusaikaikan and get off at Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station. After exiting the station, walk east on Sanjo Street, turn left onto Shijo Street, and continue straight until you reach Shirakawa Canal.

Bicycle Rental
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Nara. Start from Nara Park, head towards Nara Station, and follow the signs for Kyoto. The route will take you through scenic areas. Once you reach Kyoto, navigate to Shirakawa Canal by heading towards Sanjo Street and then turning onto Shijo Street. This option allows you to enjoy the sights along the way and takes around 1 hour to reach Shirakawa Canal.
