Public Bus
From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Yamato-Saidaiji Station. Transfer to the bus bound for Shogunzuka Mound (shogunzuka). The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. After you get off the bus, follow the signs to Shogunzuka Mound, which is about a 10-minute walk uphill.
Train and Bus
Take the JR Nara Line from Nara Station to Kyoto Station. Then, transfer to the JR Tokaido Line and get off at Yamashina Station. From Yamashina Station, take bus number 205 or 206 towards Shogunzuka. After about a 10-minute bus ride, get off at the Shogunzuka stop. The mound is a short walk from the bus stop.
Walking
If you are near Nara Park, you can walk to Shogunzuka Mound. Head towards the east exit of Nara Park and follow the path that leads towards the mountains. It is approximately a 40-minute walk, and you will enjoy scenic views along the way. Follow the signs towards Yamashina, and Shogunzuka will be on your left.
