Getting There
Bus
From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line and ride to Kintetsu Kyoto Station (approximately 45 minutes). Once at Kintetsu Kyoto Station, exit the station and head to the bus terminal located just outside. Look for bus number 100 or 206, which will take you towards Higashiyama Ward. Get off at the 'Imakumano Tsurugi Shrine' bus stop. The shrine is a short 5-minute walk from the bus stop; follow the signs that direct you towards the shrine.
Train and Walk
From Nara, take the Kintetsu Nara Line towards Kyoto and get off at Kintetsu Kyoto Station (approximately 45 minutes). After exiting the station, head towards the bus terminal or take the East exit. From there, you can either catch a bus (as described above) or walk. If you choose to walk, head northeast on Karasuma Street, then turn left onto Sanjo Street. Continue along Sanjo Street until you reach the main road, where you can see signs for Imakumano Tsurugi Shrine. It will take about 30 minutes to walk.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Nara. Simply tell the driver 'Tsurugi Shrine in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto'. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to have the address written down to show the driver: 13 Imakumano Tsuruginomiyacho, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, 605-0972.
