If you are in the Higashiyama area, the most straightforward way to reach Rengeōin (Sanjūsangendō) Temple is by walking. Head towards Sanjusangendomawari street. Depending on your starting point, you can look for signs pointing to Sanjusangendō. Once you reach the intersection of Sanjusangendomawari and Kiyomizu Sannenzaka, continue straight for about 10 minutes. You will see the temple entrance on your right. The temple is open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.

If you prefer using public transportation, you can take the Kyoto City Bus. From anywhere in Higashiyama, look for a bus stop that services routes 100 or 206. Board the bus and get off at 'Sanjusangendo-mae' stop. The temple is just a short walk from the bus stop. After exiting the bus, head in the direction of the temple's entrance, which is a 5-minute walk straight ahead.

For those near the subway stations, take the Karasuma Line to 'Kyoto Station.' From there, transfer to the Tozai Line and get off at 'Keage Station.' Once you exit the station, head east along the path that leads to Sanjusangendomawari. It will take approximately 15-20 minutes to walk to Rengeōin (Sanjūsangendō) Temple from the station.
