Public Transport

From JR Sannomiya Station, take the Kobe Municipal Subway Seishin-Yamate Line to Shin-Kobe Station. The ropeway station is a 5-minute walk from Shin-Kobe Station. Subway fare is approximately ¥200. Alternatively, take the Kobe City Bus #2, 18, 90, or 92 to the "Nunobiki" bus stop or bus #64 to the "Shin-Kobe" bus stop. From there, follow signs to the Shin-Kobe Ropeway.
Walking

From Shin-Kobe Station, the Shin-Kobe Ropeway's lower station is a short 5-minute walk. Follow the signs from the station. From JR Sannomiya Station, it is approximately a 20-minute walk to Shin-Kobe Station and the ropeway. Be aware that this is an uphill walk.
Ropeway

Purchase a ticket for the Shin-Kobe Ropeway at the lower station. A round-trip ticket, which includes admission to the Herb Gardens, costs ¥2000 for adults and ¥1000 for youth during daytime hours (9:30 to 17:00). The ropeway ride takes approximately 10 minutes, offering views of the city and surrounding landscape.

Visitors can explore 12 themed gardens, including a Welcome Garden, Rose Symphony Garden, Lavender Garden, and Oriental Garden. Each garden offers a unique sensory experience with its own distinct collection of plants and fragrances.The Shin-Kobe Ropeway provides a 10-minute ride to the gardens, offering panoramic views of Kobe and Osaka Bay. At the top, visitors will find a rest house designed to emulate Wartburg Castle, complete with a gift shop, cafe, fragrance museum, and concert hall. Other facilities include restaurants, cafes, a glasshouse with tropical plants, and an herbal foot bath.The origins of tourism in the area can be traced back to the opening of the Port of Kobe in 1868, which led to increased Western influence and interest in horticulture. The official opening of the Nunobiki Herb Garden was in the 1990s, although the site has a rich history dating back centuries, with the Nunobiki Falls serving as a source of inspiration for artists and poets.
