Public Transport

From JR Maiko Station or Sanyo Electric Railway Maiko-koen Station, walk south for about 5 minutes. Follow the signs for Maiko Park and the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. The entrance to the Maiko Marine Promenade is located at the base of the bridge. A single fare from Sannomiya Station in Kobe to Maiko Station costs approximately ¥300. From Himeji, the journey takes 35 to 45 minutes.

Car

From the Kobe Awaji Naruto Expressway, exit at the Tarumi Interchange and drive approximately 6 km to the southwest. From the Sanyo Expressway, exit at the Fusehata Interchange and drive approximately 9 km to the southwest. Parking is available at Maiko Park (P1 and P2) with 212 spaces for standard-sized cars. Parking costs ¥200 per hour.

The Maiko Marine Promenade, opened on April 5, 1998, is a unique observation facility built within the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the world's longest suspension bridge. Situated on the Kobe side of the bridge, this 317-meter-long promenade offers visitors a chance to walk 47 meters above the sea and 150 meters from the land, providing breathtaking views of the Akashi Strait and surrounding areas.The promenade features a circuit-style walkway with glass-enclosed sections, allowing visitors to look out across the water. For those seeking a thrill, the "log-bridge," a section with a transparent glass floor, offers a unique perspective of the ocean directly below. The 8th-floor observation lounge provides a relaxing space to enjoy the scenery, complete with a camera system that simulates the view from the top of the bridge's 300-meter-high main tower.On the first floor, visitors can find information materials and a DVD system that explain the history and construction of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. Tom's Cafe, located within the promenade, offers a variety of dishes using local Akashi ingredients, providing a relaxing spot to enjoy the views.The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, nicknamed "Pearl Bridge" due to its nighttime illumination, connects Kobe to Awaji Island and is a sight to behold. The Maiko Marine Promenade offers an unforgettable experience, combining engineering marvel with stunning natural beauty.
