Discover more about Minoh Falls

Minoh Falls, also known as Minoo Falls, is a captivating natural attraction located in Minoh Park, one of Japan's oldest national parks. Just a short train ride from Osaka, the falls provide a welcome escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The waterfall itself is 33 meters high and 5 meters wide, cascading powerfully into a pool below. The approach to Minoh Falls is a scenic 3-kilometer hike along a paved trail that follows the Minoh River. The hike typically takes around 45 minutes, offering a pleasant walk through a forested valley. Along the way, you'll encounter charming shops selling local delicacies like momiji tempura (deep-fried maple leaves), as well as Ryuanji Temple, known for its beautiful red bridge. Minoh Falls has a rich history, dating back to the Asuka Era (592-710) when En-No-Gyouja, a mystic, is said to have meditated under the falls. The park surrounding the falls is home to diverse flora and fauna, including over 980 plant species and 3,000 insect species. While monkeys inhabit the park, visitors are advised not to feed them. The best time to visit Minoh Falls is during the autumn foliage season, from mid-November to early December, when the maple trees display vibrant red and gold colors. However, the falls are beautiful year-round, with illuminated views in the summer.
