Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Takamatsu City and take the Takamatsu Expressway (Takamatsu Jidoshado) towards Sakaide. Exit at Sakaide IC and follow Route 11 to Shodoshima. Once on Shodoshima Island, follow the signs to Kankakei Ropeway, which is located at Kankakedori, Shodoshima, Shozu District, Kagawa. The total driving time from Takamatsu is approximately 1 hour. Please note that parking is available at the ropeway station, and it may incur a fee of around 500 yen for the day.
Public Transportation - Train and Bus
For those using public transportation, begin your journey by taking a train from Takamatsu Station to Sakaide Station. This journey takes about 30 minutes. From Sakaide Station, transfer to the ferry for Shodoshima Island. The ferry ride takes approximately 25 minutes. Once you arrive at Shodoshima, you will need to take a local bus from the ferry terminal to the Kankakei Ropeway. The bus ride will take about 35 minutes. Ensure you check the bus schedule in advance, as services may vary. The total travel time using public transport is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on connections.
