Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Matsuyama, which is a central hub in Shikoku. Take the Matsuyama Expressway (E56) toward Imabari. Continue on the expressway for about 45 km, then merge onto Route 33 towards Kochi. After approximately 70 km, take the exit toward Sakawa (Sakawa IC). Once you exit, continue on Route 56 for about 15 km until you reach Sakawa. Follow the signs to Seigenji, which is located at 1460 Ko, Sakawa, Takaoka District, Kochi 789-1201. Please note that parking is available near the temple.
Train and Bus
To reach Seigenji using public transportation, start by taking a train from Matsuyama Station to Kochi Station. You can take the JR Yosan Line, which takes approximately 2 hours. From Kochi Station, take the Tosaden Kotsu Bus (Route 10) towards Sakawa. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Sakawa' bus stop. From there, Seigenji is a short 10-minute walk. Follow the local signs to reach the temple at 1460 Ko, Sakawa, Takaoka District, Kochi 789-1201. Train and bus fares may vary, so check the latest prices before your journey.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from Kochi Station to Seigenji. The taxi ride will take approximately 30 minutes and will cost around ¥5,000 to ¥7,000, depending on traffic conditions. Ensure you have the address (1460 Ko, Sakawa, Takaoka District, Kochi 789-1201) written in Japanese to show the driver.
