Car
If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to Kochi City in Kochi Prefecture. From Kochi City, take Route 56 heading towards Tosa City. After approximately 20 km, turn onto Route 33 towards Usachoryu. Continue for about 5 km and you will see signs for Shōryūji Temple. There is parking available near the temple, but keep in mind that it may have a small fee, around 500 yen.
Public Transportation
Begin your journey by heading to Kochi Station. From Kochi Station, take the JR Dosan Line towards Nakamura. Get off at Tosa-Yamada Station (approximately 30 minutes). From Tosa-Yamada Station, you can take a local bus (Tosa Bus) towards Usachoryu. Make sure to check the bus schedule, as they may not run frequently. The bus ride will take about 15 minutes. Get off at the Usachoryu stop, which is a short walk from the temple.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, renting a bicycle in Kochi City is a great way to explore the area. You can ride along Route 56 towards Tosa City, enjoying scenic views along the way. The total distance is about 25 km from Kochi City to Shōryūji Temple, which can take around 1-2 hours depending on your cycling speed. Make sure to follow local traffic rules and wear a helmet for safety.
