Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from central Tango, head south on Route 178. Follow the signs to Maizuru which is approximately a 30-minute drive. Once you enter Maizuru, continue on Route 27. After about 10 minutes, turn left onto Kawara Street. Kongo-in is located at 595 Kawara, which will be on your left. Look for the temple's distinctive architecture as a visual cue. Free parking is available on-site.

    From the Tango area, take a train from the nearest station to Maizuru, which is the Maizuru Station on the JR Line. The train ride should take about 20-30 minutes. Once you arrive at Maizuru Station, exit the station and look for the bus terminal. Take the local bus (Bus Number 3) towards Kawara. The bus ride will take about 15 minutes.
