Follow the expressway towards Takamatsu and then take the exit for the Kochi City area. After exiting, merge onto Route 56 heading towards Matsuyama. Continue on Route 56 until you reach the intersection with Route 1. Take Route 1 north, and then follow signs for Arashiyama in Kyoto. The total drive is approximately 3 hours, covering around 200 kilometers. Upon arrival, there are parking facilities available nearby, which may incur a fee (usually around 500-1000 JPY depending on duration).

Public Transportation (Train)

To visit the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest using public transportation, start by taking a local train from Tosa to Kochi Station. From Kochi Station, board the JR Dosan Line towards Okayama. Change trains at Takamatsu Station for the JR San'yō Main Line, which will take you to Kyoto Station. Next, transfer to the JR Sagano Line and take the train to Saga-Arashiyama Station. The journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours in total, depending on transfer times. Upon arriving at Saga-Arashiyama Station, it is a short 10-minute walk to the Bamboo Forest.
