If you're starting from the center of Ma'an, head south on Al-Mahatta Street (الْمَحَطَّة) towards the main bus station. After about 500 meters, turn right onto Al-Hussein Street (الْحُسَيْنِيَّة). Continue walking for approximately 1 kilometer until you reach the entrance to the Petra Visitor Center. From here, follow the signs leading to Uum Sayhoun, which is approximately 7 kilometers away. It's advisable to ask locals for directions to the Back Door hiking route as you approach Uum Sayhoun, as it may not be well marked. The trailhead is located at 8CWM+G69.
