Getting There

• Walking

  From anywhere in Old Town, head towards Main Street, which is the main thoroughfare running through the area. Depending on your starting point, you can walk either south or north to reach South Main Street. If you are near the popular dining or shopping locations, simply walk towards the direction of the large intersection at Douglas Avenue and Main Street. Once you reach this intersection, head south on Main Street, and the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum will be on your left at 204 S Main St. The museum is only a short walk from the Old Town area, so it should take you no more than 10-15 minutes.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to ride a bicycle, you can rent one from a local bike-sharing program available in Old Town. Once you have a bike, head south on Main Street. Follow the bike lanes along Main Street, which is safe for cyclists. The Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum is located at 204 S Main St, just a few blocks away from Old Town. This ride should take around 5-10 minutes, depending on your pace.

• Public Transit (Bus)

  You can also take the public bus to reach the museum. Look for the nearest bus stop in Old Town and check the schedule for the Wichita Transit system. Routes 7 and 21 typically service the area. Board the bus heading towards downtown and get off at the stop closest to Main Street. From there, you will only need to walk a couple of blocks south along Main Street to reach the museum at 204 S Main St. Be aware that a single bus fare is approximately $1.50.
