Car
If you are driving, start from Almaty city center and head towards the Medeu district. Take the Abay Avenue and follow the signs to the Medeu Ice Rink. Continue past the rink, and you will reach the cable car station for Shymbulak Ski Resort. There is paid parking available nearby for about 1,000 KZT per hour. From the parking area, you can take the cable car up to Shymbulak Peak.
Public Transportation
To reach Shymbulak Peak using public transportation, take bus #12 from the Kazakhstan Hotel in Almaty. The bus will take you directly to the Medeu Ice Rink. From there, you can walk to the cable car station. The bus fare is approximately 300 KZT. Once at the cable car station, purchase a ticket for the cable car ride to Shymbulak Peak, which costs around 3,000 KZT for a round trip.
Cable Car
After reaching the Medeu Ice Rink, purchase your cable car ticket. The cable car ride offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and takes you up to Shymbulak Peak. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Be sure to check the operating hours of the cable car to ensure you have enough time to enjoy your visit.
