Car
If you are driving from Almaty, take the Al-Farabi Avenue heading towards the mountains. Continue until you reach the intersection with the Medeu Road. Turn left onto Medeu Road and follow it for about 15 kilometers until you reach the Big Almaty Lake. From there, continue on the same road, which will lead you to the Big Almaty Peak trailhead. Make sure to park your car at the designated parking area near the trailhead. There may be a small fee for parking, so be prepared for that.

To reach Big Almaty Peak via public transport, start by taking a bus or a taxi to the Medeu Skating Rink area (you can catch a taxi from any central location in Almaty). From Medeu, you can either hike up towards Big Almaty Lake or take a taxi up to the lake area, which is about 10 kilometers away. Note that the taxi fare may vary, so it’s best to negotiate the price before getting in. Once at Big Almaty Lake, follow the trail leading to Big Almaty Peak. Make sure to check the bus schedules and availability, as they may vary, and plan your return trip accordingly.
