Car
If you're driving from Almaty city, head to the Medeu District. From the center of Almaty, take Abay Avenue and continue until you reach the intersection with Furmanov Street. Turn right onto Furmanov and follow it until you reach the road leading to Medeu. Continue on the road until you reach the entrance to the Medeu skating rink. After passing the rink, look for signs for the 'Kok Zhailau' or 'Big Almaty Lake' road. Follow this road until you reach the parking area near the start of the Kim Asar gorge trail. Parking fees may apply, typically around 500 KZT (approx. $1.20). The gorge is a short hike from the parking area.

To reach Kim Asar gorge via public transport, take bus number 12 or 28 from Almaty city center towards Medeu. The ride will take about 30-45 minutes. Get off at the last stop (Medeu) near the skating rink. From there, you can either walk (approximately 30 minutes) or take a taxi to the trailhead.
