Car
If you are traveling by car from Almaty city center, head south on Al-Farabi Avenue (Аль-Фараби) towards the mountains. Continue on Al-Farabi until you reach the intersection with Zhambyl Street (Жамбыла) and turn left. Follow this road until you reach the Medeu area. The road will lead you to the Medeu Skate Rink, which is a popular landmark. From Medeu, continue uphill on the road marked for Shymbulak. This road is well-marked and will take you directly to the Shymbulak Ski Resort area. There is a parking lot available at the resort, where you can leave your vehicle (note: parking fees may apply). Once parked, you can take the cable car to reach Shymbulak Peak.

Public Transportation
To reach Shymbulak Peak using public transportation, start by taking a bus from the Almaty city center to the Medeu area. Bus number 12 and 28 frequently run to Medeu. Once you arrive at the Medeu bus stop, you will see signs directing you to Shymbulak. From there, you can either walk or take a taxi to the Shymbulak Ski Resort, which is about a 10-15 minute drive. At the resort, you will need to purchase a ticket for the cable car to ascend to Shymbulak Peak. The cost of the cable car ticket varies based on the season, so check for the latest prices.
