If you are traveling by car, start from Almaty city center. Head southeast on Al-Farabi Avenue towards the Medeu District. Continue until you reach the intersection with the road leading to the Medeu Ice Skating Rink. Follow the signs for Medeu, and keep driving uphill. The road will turn into a winding mountain path. After about 30 minutes, you will reach the Butakovskoye Ushchel'ye trailhead. There is a small parking area available for visitors.

To reach Butakovskoye Ushchel'ye using public transportation, take bus number 28 from the Almaty city center. The bus will take you to the Medeu District. Once you arrive at the Medeu bus stop, transfer to a taxi or a minibus that heads towards the Butakovka Valley. It is approximately a 10-15 minute ride from Medeu to the trailhead. Be prepared to negotiate the fare with the taxi driver, which typically costs around 1000-2000 KZT.
