Continue on the main road until you reach the junction for the Kakuyuni area. Turn onto the Kakuyuni road, and follow this road for approximately 10 km. Keep an eye on your GPS for the coordinates -1.3672, 37.3157. Look for signs or local guidance as you get closer, as the dam is situated off the main road.

Public Transportation

To reach Kwa Mwenga dam using public transportation, you will first need to take a matatu (shared taxi) or bus from your location in Chyulu Hills National Park to the nearest town, which is usually Mtito Andei. From Mtito Andei, take a matatu heading towards Kakuyuni. Inform the driver that you would like to stop at Kwa Mwenga dam. The fare for the matatu from Mtito Andei to Kakuyuni is approximately 200-300 KES. Once you arrive in Kakuyuni, you may need to walk or hire a local taxi to get to the dam, which is about 5km away from the town center.

If you're already near Kakuyuni and prefer to walk, head towards the coordinates -1.3672, 37.3157. The dam is about 5 km from the town center. You can ask locals for the best walking path to take, as they can provide insight into the safest routes through the area.
